Malawi’s reggae giants, the Black Missionaries band, take their Kuimba 10 album to South Africa where they will perform at three events.

While a majority of Malawi musicians will be at Sunbird Nkopola Lodge for the annual Lake of Stars Festival, the award winning group will be performing at the Safari Hotel in Hilbrow, Johannesburg.

Band leader Anjiru Fumulani said: “The whole band leaves on September 24 together with Skeffa Chimoto and the Real Sounds Band. Our first show will be at the Safari Hotel in Hilbrow the following day. On the 26th, we will be in Pretoria before wrapping up with a gig at Tijuca Café in Johannesburg.”

This is the first international show for Ma Blacks after successfully launching the Kuimba 10 album in Malawi.

“The shows are upon invitation from a Malawian entertainment firm based in South Africa. However, we will take advantage to promote our latest album; we want to sell to not only Malawians or in the country alone, we aim at taking our music across the globe,” he explained.

From the South Africa trip, the Black Missionaries tend to concentrate on promoting the album further locally, as the band is fully booked until December.
