“So far, a lot of people have expressed interest to serve Maba and we believe we will have vibrant committees looking at the calibre of people that have come up. It is important to have structures on the ground run by passionate and knowledgeable people,” said Chakudza.

In the South, elections will take place at Blantyre Youth Centre (BYC); in the Centre, the polls will be held at Lilongwe Community Centre while in the North the polls will be at Obligado Leisure Centre.

“The elections will start around 9 am at all these venues and our appeal is for those wishing to take part to be present as early as 8am. Maba executive committee members will preside over these elections,” he said.

Chakudza also announced that Maba will conduct elections for judges, coaches and women at national level on October 31 in Lilongwe.

“These will be technical people to run boxing departments in areas of coaching, women boxing and also judges. Those who have served in these positions before are eligible to stand but we are also appealing to those who are qualified in such departments to come and submit their names,” he said.
