Georgia-based midfielder Francisco Madinga  says he is looking forward to earning his debut when the Flames face South Sudan tomorrow in the 2022 Africa Cup of Nations (Afcon) qualifier in Khartoum, Sudan.

The player said he is excited to play for the Flames for the first time since he signed for Dila Gora FC.

“This is what I was looking forward to and I am ready to deliver,” he said.

Madinga: I am ready

The player said it remains a possibility for Malawi to turn the tables and qualify for the 2022 Afcon finals to be hosted by Cameroon, if the players take the games seriously.

“Everything is possible in the group. It is a matter of us player to be disciplined and focussed. If we win the remaining two games, I believe we can make it to Cameroon.”

On his stay at the Georgia outfit, he said:  “I am now settling down compared with last year when I just joined the club.”

The former Be Forward Wanderers midfielder joined Dila Gori FC in January 2020 at a fee of K11.3 million transer.

However, his debut was delayed due to the Covid-19 pandemic which led to the suspension of football in Georgia.

Dila Gori is based in Gori and plays in Erovnuli Liga, the country’s topflight league.

The team, which plays their home games at Tengiz Burjanadze Stadium, won the Georgian Cup in 2012 and the Georgian Championship in 2015.
