It is now a done deal. Mafco FC striker Richard Mbulu is scheduled to fly out this afternoon to Maputo to join top Mozambican side Costa dol Sol.

Initially, Mbulu was supposed to leave the country last week alongside Civo United captain Nelson Kangunje, but Mafco changed their mind at the eleventh hour, saying they were not happy with Costa do Sol’s offer.

However, both teams and the player yesterday confirmed having reached an agreement.

Now feels like flying: Mbulu

“We have reached an agreement and Mbulu is leaving tomorrow [today],” said Mafco team manager Overton Ng’oma in a telephone interview from Salima.

He said Costa do Sol reviewed their earlier offer and that Mafco will receive $5 000 (about K3.7 million from K3.5 million). The player’s personal perks have also been reviewed.

Asked if he is happy with the new deal, Ng’oma said, “I am not satisfied, we have done this just because he [Mbulu] is desperate to go. Otherwise, it is still peanuts.”

Costa do Sol team manager Artur Faria said he was now happy to have reached an agreement with Mafco.

On his part, Mbulu said:  “Bobby I am a happy now. First, I should thank my bosses for their effort. The trip is now on, zampira man.”

Mbulu is expected to join the rest of the Costa dol Sol squad for pre-season camping in South Africa this weekend.
