Mafco Sisters target top two slots in LDNL

League debutants Mafco Sisters have said they would like to break through into the Lilongwe and Districts Netball League (LDNL) top two positions.

Coach Lottie Chiumia said the first round has helped them to study the weaknesses of top two teams as the soldiers finished the round on third position with 22 points.  They won 11 games and lost two.

Defending champions Eagles Sisters finished at the top with 26 points while second-placed Civonets finished with 24 points.

“We could have finished on second position, but Civonets robbed us the position,” said Chiumia.

LDNL general secretary Zacharia Kasakula described the first round as competitive.

“The only setback was shortage of fuel with Malawi Defence Force (MDF) teams that resulted in the calendar being prolonged. We had planned to finish early November,” said Kasakula.

He said the second round will start on January 5 and the season is expected to end early February.
