About 60 artists from around the world are lined up to perform at the Lake of Stars Festival (LoS) this weekend when the biggest arts festival returns to the shores of Lake Malawi.

The three-day festival set to take place at Sunbird Nkopola Lodge from tomorrow until Sunday and international artists started arriving yesterday.

International headline act Mafikizolo, who will for the first time perform in Malawi with a full band, arrive on Friday afternoon.

“After arriving in Malawi, Mafikizolo will travel to Mangochi for a performance on the same day.

“The other international, such as South African rapper Reason, arrived yesterday together with his wife and they will first go to Cape Maclear before heading to Nkopola,” assistant public relations coordinator for LoS, Yolanda Ngoma.

Zambia’s number one hip-hop group Zone Fam arrives today.

The 2013 Channel O award winner for Most Gifted Duo, Group or Featuring is famous in many parts of Africa for the hit, Contolola.

Scotland’s hip-hop group Stanley Todd also arrives tomorrow alongside Zimabwe’s Selmor Mtukudzi and Pearl Natasha.

So far, confirmed performances from Malawi include Lulu, Wendy Harawa, Lawi and the Black Missionaries.

The four will join an amazing line up of other local artists including Peter Mawanga, Sally Nyundo, Mafilika, Skeffa Chimoto, Agorosso and Piksy, adding on to Malawi’s amazing listing of its biggest and hottest stars.

Labelled one of Africa’s top 10 festivals, LoS has been getting a lot of international attention; the festival has managed to set the stage for as many local artists as possible by using the stage and exposure as a platform for local artists to build relationships with international artists and also to market them on a more profound media setting.
