Renowned Malawi gospel artist Arnold Kilembe has teamed up with his childhood friend Thoko Kanjira to open a music shop in Lilongwe for only Seventh Day Adventist (SDA) compilations.

The centre, known as Advent Music Corner, is opposite Bwaila Hospital.

The development comes at a time the Adventist Book Centre, which the SDA Church runs as an outlet for its publications, has relocated from the Old Town to the church’s regional headquarters at Area 14.

However, Kilembe said the move created was all coincidental.

“We are in no way trying to replace the Adventist Book Centre. The idea was hatched long time ago. We will be dealing mainly in music and the publications we have such as magazines and tracts will be given to clients free of charge,” he said.

The centre is selling music and hymns of different tastes and ages; from great compilations that have stood the test of time like crowd favourites Gaither Classics, the Vocal Union and Linda Rendal to local sensations such as the Joyful Souls, Philadelphia and many others, including Kilembe’s three albums.
