Malawi Government will hold an all-inclusive national sports conference next month to find lasting solutions to the problem facing the Flames.

Sports Minister Enock Chihana said this in Malawi’s capital, Lilongwe, before he left for Harare, Zimbabwe, on a private visit.

The minister said the conference will be held during the last week of April.

“We chose April because we are yet to finalise the logistics. My principal secretary Justin Saidi is heading a taskforce of the organising committee and planning should be through in the next two weeks. Government is attaching a lot of importance to the conference,” said Chihana.

In a separate interview, Saidi said planning is at advanced stage.

“As I am talking to you, I am chairing a meeting in relation to the conference. We want to find out how much resources are needed for the conference, the duration, how many people will be invited and other logistics,” he said.

The PS could not, however, reveal the actual date of the conference.

Chihana said they also want to establish if in the previous years, there was such an all-inclusive conference.
