The Nigerian award-winning R & B duo of Peter and Paul Okoye, popularly known as P Square, are set to perform at the Lilongwe Golf Club, courtesy AMAA.

The group, popular for their songs Forever, Chop my Money, Beautiful Onyinye, among others, will be performing at the golf course on March 15 in their  Experience Malawi gig.

“They are coming on their jet so any time they will arrive. It is going to be a one stop festival as there will be film, fashion, music and gala. Piksy, Maskal, Sally Nyundo and Nyimbo Music Company’s new signing duo of Fortress will support the concert. DJ Kenny Klips will be on the turntables,” said event organiser Zilani Nyundo.

“So come Friday, March 15, P Square will be in Lilongwe. The show will have stage works, lighting fit for a superstar international event. We are targeting over 10 000 to attend the concert billed to be the first ever biggest concert in Malawi,” added Nyundo.

“We will transform the golf club into a festival site. Lack of space in Lilongwe necessitated the outdoor event. But we are not worried with weather as forecast shows the rains will be over,” she explained.

The whole fiesta starts with a film training session for youths in Mzuzu, Blantyre and Lilongwe.

The day after the gig, it will be the AMAA nomination night at the Presidents Hotel in Lilongwe.

Said Nyundo: “AMAA will reveal films for the finalists in the awards. The organisers are excited to be in the country as about three years ago, some Malawians namely Tapiwa Gwaza and Flora Suya were nominated and Gwaza won an award. Skeffa Chimoto will be joined by other local musicians and one international artist to be revealed later, in entertaining patrons to the gala night.”

President Joyce Banda is scheduled to attend the event.
