Malawi-born player in Denmark trials

Malawi-born Tamandani Nsaliwa, who is a naturalised Canadian midfielder, is attending trials at Danish Super League side, Esbjerg.

According to Danish sports website www.bold.dk, Nsaliwa started trials at Esbjerg a few weeks ago, hoping to impress coach Jess Thorup.

“He [Nsaliwa] has been involved in two reserve team matches, and in the near future, we should find out whether he will remain with us. He could be a long-term outlook for the summer transfer window,” Thorup is quoted as telling the website.

The Danish coach said the player, who is affectionately called Tam, has shown some positive exciting ball skills and could strengthen Esbjerg’s midfield.

Born in Lilongwe to Malawian parents, Nsaliwa is ineligible to play for Flames as he represented Canada national football team at the senior level.

Fifa rules only entertain players who have played at junior national team level to switch national teams.

Malawi-born Tamika Mkandawire too cannot play for the Flames as he holds British citizenship yet Malawi immigration laws restricts dual citizenship.
