Malawi will tomorrow [Thursday] join the world in commemorating the World Book and Copyright Day, with main events at the Shire Highlands Hotel in Blantyre.

Book Publishers Association of Malawi (Bpam) president Alfred Msadala said the book gifts would be exchanged at the commemoration.

Books“It is a World Book Day tradition to present book gifts to colleagues and we hope that Malawians will exchange books on this day,” said Msadala.

Apart from that, Msadala said there will be a symposium where Polytechnic graphic design and printing trainer Edons Munthali and Book Sellers Association of Malawi president Maureen Masamba will give talks.

The day was set aside by the Unesco to ‘recognise the power of books to change our lives for the better and to support books and those who produce them’.
