Malawi Ambassador to United States of America (USA) Necton Mhura has assured US investors that Malawi is a secure investment destination.

A statement from American Embassy in Lilongwe said Mhura made the announcement during an interview with Voice of America (VOA) in Washington DC to invite investors to participate in the forthcoming Malawi Investment Forum (MIF) scheduled for Lilongwe from June 29 to 30.nector mhura

The Malawi envoy said the 2015 MIF is aimed at showcasing investment and trade opportunities in Malawi, promoting specific investment opportunities to both domestic and foreign investors.

“The ambassador explained that to make it a conducive destination, the Malawi Government has set up a one-stop centre, which is essentially a one-stop shop, where the investor gets all the frontline permits [immigration incentives], registration of the company and land,” said the statement.

The Malawi Investment and Trade Centre (Mitc) will enable investors to access all the services at one go, to speed up investment process.

Mhura also informed interested investors that the forum would bring together both local and foreign investors in sectors such as tourism, energy, manufacturing, infrastructure and agriculture.

He expressed optimism that investors from US, Brazil, Russia, India, China, United Kingdom and other European and African countries will participate in the forum at Bingu International Convention Centre (Bicc) in Lilongwe.
