Malawi Under-20 men’s and Under-19 women’s teams have been invited to take part at the International Handball Challenge to be held in South Africa from July 23 to 29.

International Handball Federation (IHF) will pay all expenses, according to Malawi Handball Association general secretary Dennis Kumwenda.

“It is a relief for us since IHF will provide transport, accommodation and food to Malawi team.

“This is a great opportunity. For the game to grow, we need such exposure. It is only through this way that we can measure our progress,” said Kumwenda on Wednesday in Lilongwe.

The association has since requested regional committees to organise competitions to identify athletes to compete at national level.

“We shall organise national championship in May to select national team players to represent Malawi at the tournament.

“We are grateful to Malawi National Sports Council for setting aside K1 million to help us prepare for this tournament,” said Kumwenda. n
