The Ladies Golf Union has announced that it will host the 2015 East and Central All-Africa Challenge Golf.

In an interview with The Nation, Lilongwe Golf Club ladies captain Regina Mwanza said they have just received the news, which she described as an honour.

“For us to be successful hosts we have to start preparations now because the tournament is in June. We want support of the corporate and individual organisations if we are to succeed,” said Mwanza.

She said since they are female participants in the tournament, they will organise tournaments countrywide in search of more women golfers to strengthen the Malawi team.

“This tournament will have seven teams participating. It will be the first time for us as a country to host a tournament of such magnitude,” she said.

As part of preparations for the event, last Sunday, the ladies committee at LGC organised a encouChristmas Fun Golf which attracted 50 participants.

“Each team was paired between a lady golfer and a male golfer. The objective is to rage more female golfers to learn from their male counterparts,” said Mwanza.
