Trying times

Malawi’s ruling People’s Party (PP) is behaving like a father who tells his family to go to bed hungry due to lack of money when he is busy eating mang’ina at the bar. It does not inspire confidence.

By the way, who knows the vision of this party for Malawi? At least Bingu had visions and we all know what he wanted to do with Malawi, the port, five universities, quota, stadium in Lilongwe, a five- star hotel, priorities within priorities, zero-deficit budget etc were all clear policies despite their controversies. Koma awa [with PP] we do not know where they want to take us. These are dark trying times indeed. Blackout even in government system?

Share Resources

Dr Jean Kalirani, Malawians need to share resources. What do members of the [Parliamentary] Women Caucus want us to teach our children? Shame on the two groups who spoke as if the beds went to Kachali’s farm as some dictator took a whole university from the Central Region to Ndata Farm while the likes of Kalirani were clapping hands!

LK/ Via e-mail

It is okay to share resources, but why transfer beds at night?

Via SMS

The beds issue has also been politicised by opposition parties. Out of all sticky issues rocking our country…. Why should 13 beds disturb DPP female Members of Parliament to the extent of shunning a Sadc caucus? 13 beds only?

Via SMS

Shame to the technocrats and politicians in the Ministry of Health. This is just a tip of the iceberg.

Encouragement

Mine is a word of encouragement to NPL for introducing feedback lines so that we make freedom of expression a reality indeed. Keep it up.

Via SMS

Fees should not be increased otherwise children of the poor will not go to school.

Via SMS

It is a crime stealing government property. The PP candidate has already said that he has bought beds, arrest him.

Via SMS

There are so many hospitals with mattresses without beds, why Mponela only?

Via SMS

Transferring beds at night is official theft of the highest order and abuse of office promoting criminality.

Via SMS

Parliament should impeach the Vice-President and Deputy Minister of Health. Why are some people defending the indefensible?

Via SMS

These people are taking us for granted. Why was the Deputy Minister of Health lying that the beds were taken from stores. Then why at night? Where were the security guards? These two are decampaigning themselves for 2014.

Via SMS

Public resources do not belong to a district, but to Malawians and deploying materials according to need within Malawi is not an issue – Mzimba is in Malawi I believe.

Via SMS

Transferring beds from Dowa to Mzimba is demonism of democracy.

Via SMS

If this is what developing the North is all about, then the Vice-President has failed.

Koma ndiye zilikoeee!!! Mpakana usiku kutsitsa ana pa bedi? A Khumbo Kachali sanachite bwino.

Via SMS

Sign of nepotism and selfishness at the same time. People in Malawi cannot trust those leaders who show signs of regionalism.

Via SMS

The move was political. Why did the VP decide to replace the beds? If the situation was real, he could have resisted redeployment of the beds.

Via SMS

The People’s Party (PP) government continue to be damaged. First, was Minister of Finance after running the government on MRA money and now Health Minister transferring beds—JB tread carefully with these recycled politicians.—Via SMS
