Robin-Ngalande-vs-NamibiaMalawi table tennis teams last week outsmarted their Zimbabwean counterparts during friendly games played at Kamuzu Institute for Sports in Lilongwe.

Table Tennis Association of Malawi communications officer Charles Kasenda confirmed the news.

“We had Under-15 boys double, Under-15 girls double, Under-18 boys double and Under-18 girls double as well as mixed doubles and singles for both boys and girls.

“In Under-15, Malawi beat Zimbabwe 2-1. In Under-18, Malawi walloped Zimbabwe 3-0 while in mixed doubles, Zimbabwe beat Malawi 3-2. In Under-15 singles, Malawi won all games while Zimbabwe won all games in the Under-18 singles category.

“We want to thank Malawi National Council of Sports for organising the tournament which has given our youth international exposure,” said Kasenda.

He said the tournament helped local athletes prepare for Zone Six games to be played in Zambia in December.

Kasenda thanked Nigerian table tennis player Kresh Chinatu for assisting the players technically and financially.

“Our players have been highly motivated during this two-day tournament,” said Kasenda.
