Wedding bells are set to ring in Malawi Queens and Tigresses family this Saturday as star shooter Sindi Simtowe will be exchanging matrimonial vows with Ardron Msowoya at Red Cross Church of Christ in Blantyre.

The GOtv ambassador, who has become 10th Tigresses player to wed, yesterday said she is delighted that her patience and discipline have finally paid off.

Simtowe: I cannot wait
Simtowe: I cannot wait

“I cannot wait to see my husband-to-be putting a ring on my finger. I have been praying to God to give me a husband and I am happy that He has finally answered,” ” said Simtowe.

The reception will be at St Pius Catholic Church Hall in Blantyre.

According to Simtowe, who comes from the area of Traditional Authority (T/A) Kyungu in Karonga, they have been dating for close to two years since their first meeting after a match between Tigresses and their rivals Kukoma Diamonds at Blantyre Youth Centre (BYC).

On his part, Msowoya said he is happy to have found a humble and a loving woman. He comes from the area of T/A Zolokere in Rumphi.

Netball Association of Malawi (NAM) general secretary Carol Bapu and Tigresses team manager Hellene Mpinganjira-Tasosa hailed Simtowe for choosing the right matrimonial path and proving wrong some people who associate netball players with bad manners.

“People associate sports, netball in particular, with bad behaviour. This is why we are happy to see one of Malawi Queens’ long-serving players entering into marriage legally. This is what it really means to be a role model,” Bapu said.

Mpinganjira-Tasosa said: “We are proud of Sindi. People have bad attitude towards netball players, saying they cannot afford to run families and are husband snatchers. But Sindi is here to prove wrong such misconceptions. By the way, on October 2, we also have another wedding for our defender Maureen Ngwira.”
