The country’s sole reinsurance institution, Malawi Reinsurance Company Limited (MalawiRe), has said health remains one of the pillars for any economic progress.
MalawiRe assistant general manager Edward Harold said as his company celebrates 20 years in business citizens’ wellbeing will remain fundamental in its operations.
MalawiRe is an upper tier insurance company whose main business is risk managing in local insurance companies by providing them capacity and cover.
As part of the commemoration, the company last week donated 80 mattresses and 79 buckets to Queen Elizabeth Central Hospital (QECH) worth K2.5 million.
Harold said MalawiRe employees felt moved when they visited the referral health facility and saw guardians and patients sleeping on bare floor hence the assistance.
“We want share with them our success story of 20 years. Besides, it’s our wish to contributing to the hospital’s hygiene and the society’s wellbeing,” he said.
QECH principal health services administrator Chikumbutso Tambala said the donation would help to lessen accommodation pressure the hospital is experiencing. n
