Malawi Vice-President Khumbo Kachali has said Malawi’s challenges require unity of purpose where all the citizenry continue to contribute to the well-being of the nation instead of fault-finding and pulling each other down.

Kachali was speaking at Malombe in Mangochi where he addressed a development rally.

He said the Economic Recovery Plan and other household interventions President Joyce Banda’s administration is implementing are aimed at improving people’s welfare and they are required to be supported by all.

He said: “Addressing the challenges that we are facing requires all of us. But sadly, even those who contributed to the economic downfall are now in the forefront mocking Malawians. We went through a difficult period, our freedoms were no longer part of us, but we need to move forward with purpose. We need to find lasting solutions to our challenges and we need to ensure that the People’s Party government under Dr Joyce Banda is retained in 2014 that we can recover in full.”

The Vice-President also announced that ‘a family a cow’ programme will be launched in Mangochi South West Constituency in the Eastern Region as part of promoting household development in the country.
