Malawi VP leads M’mbelwa’s body viewing

Malawi’s Vice President Khumbo Kachali on Wednesday led the body viewing ceremony of Ngoni Paramount Chief M’mbelwa IV of Mzimba at Mtunthama State Lodge in Lilongwe.

 Chief M’mbelwa IV died on Tuesday at Mwaiwathu Private Hospital in Malawi’s commercial city, Blantyre, where he was treated for a diabetes attack. He was 56.

Other top government officials who gave their last respect to the late M’mbelwa IV in Lilongwe are Speaker Henry Chimunthu Banda and Cabinet ministers such as Henry Phoya, Grace Maseko, Goodall Gondwe and Ken Kandodo.

 Several members of Parliament, religious leaders, officials of different political parties, members of the business community and ordinary Malawians were also among those who viewed M’mbelwa IV’s remains at the Area 3 State Residence and consoled the bereaved royal family.

 The late chief has since been accorded a State funeral. Burial is scheduled at his headquarters in Edingeni on Saturday.
