Malawi win 3 out of 8 opening Zone VI Golf Games

Malawi won three out of their eight games on the first day at the Zone VI Golf Tournament in Cape Town, South Africa on Tuesday.

According to a statement from the Golf Union of Malawi (GUoM) secretary Hudson Kantwanje, Paul Chidale, Victor Kachepatsonga and Kondwani Mphulla won the individual games for Malawi.

Stanford Mayuni, Adam Sailesi, Ben Wandawanda, Gabriel Kambale and Charles Kambalame lost their games.

“Chidale beat his Botswana opponent 5 and 3, Kachepatsonga beat an opponent from Lesotho 6 and 4 while Mphulla saw off a Mozambican 8 and 7.

“Mayuni lost to a Ugandan on the last (18th) hole so, too, Sailesi who lost to a Zimbabwean also on the last hole. Wandawanda lost to a South African 8 and 7, Kambale lost to a Zambian 3 and 2 whereas Kambalame lost to a Kenyan 5 and 3,” said Kantwanje.

As of yesterday, hosts South Africa were leading after winning all their eight first day games.

“It is our hope that the team will do well in today’s games,” said Kantwanje.
