Malawi’s BBA rep in remix with housemates

Call him Mr C.O.  Two-time Malawi’s Big Brother representative Code Sangala has launched his solo music career with the recording of Solo album containing singles which will feature his Ghana housemate Sammy B and Botswana’s Kaone.

The former Kapirintiya duo co-vocalist disclosed in an interview the Ghanaian dancehall sensation will provide rap lyrics to the remix of Ndiwe, which is expected on air Friday, while Kaone brings a South African jazz breeze to Tithana.

He said negotiations are almost complete to feature the pair with whom he spent 75 days in the 2010 BBA All Stars which brought together movers and shakers from the previous seasons of the M-Net Africa reality show.

Explained the Bwenzi Langa co-hitmaker on Tuesday: “As we are speaking, I have e-mailed Sammy B the sound wave of Ndiwe and he has already started composing his lyrics. He will send it back to me when he is done with the vocals. Likewise, I am finalising talks with Kaone.  The two are my buddies and we used to talk about doing music together when we were in the house. This time, we are taking the relationship to another level.”

Research shows Sammy B (real name Samuel Kwame Bampoe), who appeared on Big Brother debut in 2003, is one of the most exciting and experienced personalities to have hit the Ghanaian media and entertainment industry. Endowed with undisputed radio presenting skills, the musician tags himself as the best pound-for-pound ragga freestylist with an undying interest in music, writes the online publication, ghanamusic.com.

“The song in which he is featuring talks about a man who is in no doubt that he has found the right partner for marriage. It’s about love that celebrates all perfect couples,” said C.O.

On the other hand, Kaone (showbiz label K-1) was in the 2008 BBA Revolution edition along with Malawi’s Mzamose Chibambo. Last year, his compatriot Zeus released Double Wowza, a collabo album with Malawi’s DJ Lomwe whom he met on BBA Amplified two years ago.

Apart from the joint efforts, the rest of the numbers on .C.O’s album were recorded at Thoms Studio in the artist’s hometown, Ndirande, the setting of Kapirintiya’s Kwathu ku Ndirande which he did with his brother Shadre.

C.O, a guitarist and deejay, said about 98 percent of the solo efforts is recorded live, not computer-programmed. They include Okongola, Want More and Linda Madzi.

He denied pulling out of Kapirintiya duo, saying: “I just stepped aside to give ample time to my projects.”
