Malawian actress Lois Chimimba is set to appear in a Netflix series titled The One which opens on March 12.
The actress confirmed in an interview that she will be playing the role of Hannah in the series.
“It is a crime drama and it was really fun to film. It is packed with lots of secrets and hard decisions being made. It will be an intense drama to watch,” she said in an interview from London.
The series is set five minutes in the future, in a world where a DNA test can help people find their perfect partner, but with a lot of twists and turns.
“It is inspired by a book by John Marrs titled The One. I take the character of Hannah Bailey who is married to Mark,” said Chimimba.
She said with the current London lockdown, she is excited to have the series on Netflix which will enable Malawians and the rest of the world to watch.
“There are endless apps and new ways to meet and get entertained. So, I am hoping that the new series will be a story that appeals to many people and cultures,” said Chimimba.
The actress said she is excited to be on Netflix since the app reaches a lot of people around the world.
On her recent nomination during the 2020 Scottish Bafta awards, Chimimba said the nomination was a step in the right direction.
“It was such a lovely feeling to have the Bafta Scotland nomination. I am not entirely sure what changes in my career that it might create, but I feel like it gave me some extra hope in these difficult times,” said the actress.
She said for her it has been a relief to be able to film despite the Covid-19 lockdown.
A notification on Neflix says the series launches on March 12.
