This is a year that South Africa-based Malawian model Thembi Zimba will treasure for the rest of her life.

It seems she is getting things right as she has sealed another international deal —she has been chosen as the face of Zambia’s Top Model 2013.

Last month, Thembi was made the ambassador of Toyota South Africa for a motor show that took place in Johannesburg. Around the same time, she was also chosen for a Nissan motor show, but opted for Toyota.

Such international deals are a dream of every model out there.

“I will be on all posters, tickets, everything,” confirmed Thembi in an interview from Cape Town.

She said she is happy that organisers, University of Zambia (UNZA) Radio and Glamour Promotions decided to use her on their top modelling event.

“It’s so exciting. It makes me feel that I must be doing something right as a model.Travelling to another country to model is every model’s dream. Again, I am looking forward to the event because apart from taking part, it is also a learning experience for me. I will definitely pass on the knowledge to colleagues back home,” said the leggy 22-year-old model.

It seems things are coming her way this year, and God continues to smile on her. But what is the secret behind these international deals?

“I think the secret is just to work well with everyone, be humble, and there is no one who does not enjoy working with a humble model, and of course pleasant too. That way people are more than welcome to approach you,” said Thembi.

Zambia’s model Naomi Banda of Glamour Promotions said Thembi will be used as the model on all the promo adverts of the competition, raising her profile in return and of course, earning good money.

“She will open the show scheduled for December 20 in Lusaka at a venue to be announced. She will also motivate and inspire up-and-coming models in Zambia through her story. We are looking at having 30 models participating in the event. So far, we have already done Kitwe auditions and Lusaka. Livingstone auditions will take place this weekend,” said Banda, who from November 27 to December 7, will represent Zambia at the Miss World Heritage in Zimbabwe.
