Malosa are Copa rural kings

Malosa Secondary School of Zomba qualified for 2014 Copa Coca-cola South East Education Division (Seed) finals after beating St Anthony Community Day Secondary School 5-4 on post-match penalties at Domasi College Sports Complex last Saturday.

Malosa will join district champions from Balaka, Mangochi, Machinga and Zomba Urban for divisional finals to be played at Balaka Stadium later next month, the division’s secretary Mcpherson Ndawala wrote in a statement released on Thursday.

The qualifiers had the following representatives Malosa and Kabadwa Private Secondary School (Songani Zone); St. Anthony Community Day secondary School (St. Anthony Zone); Nsala Community Day Secondary School (St. Martin Zone) and Balamanja Community Day Secondary School (Chingale Zone).

The five participating schools were put into two groups through a draw. Group A comprised Malosa, Kabadwa and Nsala while Group B had St. Anthony and Balamanja.

In group A, Malosa beat Nsala 3-1 and drew 1-1 with Kabadwa to accumulate four points and emerged as champions. In Group B, St. Anthony beat Balamanja 2-0 in their first game and in the second game, Balamanja beat St. Anthony 2-1, but St. Anthony emerged champions on goal difference.
