Malswitch win TNM Invitational Golf

With a brilliant score of 97 points, Malswitch emerged champions of the TNM Invitational Golf Tournament at Blantyre Sports Club on Saturday.

The unique part of the winning side was that they had two lady golfers—Diana Kambale and Maggie Mukwenha—as well as the golf captain himself, Donbell Mandala. Thomas Nkosi-Banda completed the triumphant side.

Speaking on behalf of the winning team, Nkosi-Banda thanked sponsors TNM.

“Thank you very much TNM. We had fun out there on the course and we really appreciate,” said Nkosi-Banda.

A team sponsored by Old Mutual came second on 92 points. It comprised youthful Chimwemwe Chimwaza, Chris Kapanga, Masauko Msungama and J.S Banda.

With a score of 89 points, NBS Bank team which had Gilford Kadzakumanja, Mayamiko Kalizang’oma, Sam Kankosi and Gilbert Chirwa, finished third.

In subsidiary prizes, Kambale had the longest drive in the ladies category on hole 1. Harold Lungu was nearest to the pin on hole 5, Kapanga was nearest to the pin on hole 10 whereas Chimwaza and John Suzi-Banda had the longest drives on holes 15 and 8 respectively.

Nearest to the pin in two on hole 18 was Hudson Kantwanje.

Robert Coombes, Misheck Esau, Mussa Lambart, Tim Mulagha, Gilbert Chirwa and K. Mwalwafu had two clubs.

All the winners received dongles and trophies from TNM.

TNM head of region for Blantyre, David Nyirenda, said the mobile network service provider was pleased to sponsor the tournament that attracted 72 golfers.

“This day is for enjoyment. Let me thank the captain and his committee for the improved condition of the course.

“TNM believes a friend in need is a friend indeed and that is why we had to be here. We would like to promise that we will not leave BSC, we will always be here.

“Businesswise, we appreciate our corporate partners. We believe we are here to work together,” said Nyirenda.

Mandala thanked TNM for sponsoring the event.

He also thanked TNM management and BSC board for gracing the event.
