Zambian singing sensation Mampi who has been on a tour of Malawi during the Easter holidays has been performing while sick.

Mampi, a former participant in the TV reality show Big Brother Africa, is receiving chicken pox treatment and the ailment has affected her performances which are awesome.

The Zambian has been performing at Phindu Promotions’ Easter Explosion shows which kicked off on Thursday at Mungo Park in Malawi’s capital, Lilongwe, Robin’s Park in Blantyre on Friday, Zitherepano in Mangochi on Saturday, Lilongwe Golf Club on Sunday and Tilipano on Monday afternoon.

The sizeable crowd that thronged the Golf Club did not get what they were expecting from the Zambian artist.

Despite her two girls dressed in slashed skirts, dancing wildly as they could people wanted Mampi to make the dance moves she is famous for.

People wanted her killer dance, a somersault gyrate, with her head down, legs up and her torso shaking like an acrobat. All this was missing and fans could not stop chanting, avine, Mampi, avine literally meaning Mampi must dance.

Asked as to why she was not herself, Mampi said: “I have not been feeling well, but I had to do it for the sake of my fans in Malawi. I am better off now, but, of course, not back to my real self.”

Phindu Promotions owner Abel Kumwenda acknowledged Mampi is sick, but insisted on performing.

“She has not been feeling very well. In fact, during her show in Blantyre, she was in a bad shape, but insisted on performing for the sake of her Malawi fans. The good thing is she has been taking her medication,” said Kumwenda.

Other artists who performed were Skeffa Chimoto, Black Missionaries and Lucius Banda.
