Man arrested for abduction and defilement
Police in Blantyre have arrested a 23-year-old man for allegedly abducting and repeatedly defiling a 13-year-old girl.
Confirming the incident, Blantyre Police spokesperson Elizabeth Divala said the man Davie Juma from Mtolera Village in the area of Traditional Authority (T/A) Nkanda in Mulanje allegedly abducted the girl in Ndirande Township on April 30.
Said Divala: “The girl was going to her grandparents in Nyambadwe when he met Juma who took her to his house, locked her up and repeatedly defiled her for four days.”
Divala further said the girl was rescued by police on April 4 after days of searching following a report by her parents.
“Medical examination at Queen Elizabeth Central Hospital (QECH) revealed that the girl was indeed defiled,” said Divala.
