Bangwe Police in Blantyre last Friday arrested 28-year-old Alex Matukuta of Sakwata Village, Traditional Authority (T/A) Nkalo in Chiradzulu for being found in possession of illegal items.

Limbe Police Station spokesperson Pedzisai Zembeneko said they arrested Matukuta after a search at his home where they found 11 rounds of ammunition for an AK47 and two for a pistol, two camouflage shirts, two teargas canisters and one star pistol loaded with five rounds of ammunition.

“We received a tip-off from other suspects we had arrested a few weeks ago. We conducted an investigation that led to the arrest of Alex Matukuta.

“We have not yet taken him to court, but we will do so when investigations are done,” said Zembeneko.

He assured the public that police are working hard to deal with all those committing crimes in Blantyre.
