A man died after being hit by a running vehicle along the Zalewa road in Blantyre on Tuesday.
Chileka Police Spokesperson Grace Mwale confirmed the accident and identified the deceased as Lassimu Chiwalo from Kumponda village in the area of Traditional Authority (T/A) Kapeni in Blantyre.
According to Mwale, Chiwalo was hired by a certain businessman to lead a cow from Zalewa to Lunzu but instead of holding the rope tied to the cow’s leg, he tied it to his waist.
“The cow then suddenly dragged him into the middle of the road where they both got hit by the Daful Leyland,” explained Mwale adding that both the man and the cow died on the spot.
She said Chiwalo sustained multiple fractures on both legs.
The Daf Leyland, registration number BR2463 was driven by 37 year-old Erick Venda, according to Mwale.
