A man from the central Malawi district of Ntchisi died on the spot after he fell off a moving vehicle.
Ntchisi Police spokesperson Gladson M’bumpha on Saturday identified the deceased as Limbani Chasawa (27), from Ngaliche Village, Traditional Authority Msamala in Balaka.
M’bumpha said Chasawa was in a vehicle which carried about 50 bags of charcoal and nine passengers. It was headed for Chitawo Trading Centre along the Masewe-Chitawo Road.
“On arrival at Mtsekamphata Village, the vehicle is believed to have hit a hump and Chawasa fell down together with a bag of charcoal. He died on the spot due to head injuries and multiple fractures on the right arm and pelvis,” said M’bumpha.
He said the vehicle sped off after the accident and the police are still investigating the matter.
