“The coaching panel is on probation until June. They achieved a good result in Namibia and we do not want to disturb the winning formula,” Nyamilandu said on Tuesday.

Football Association of Malawi (FAM) announced Manda’s appointment to the new post last Friday.

According to Nyamilandu, Fifa recommended the establishment of the post of technical officer.

“The post is more of an assistant to the technical director (TD). It would be difficult for one man to cover the whole country. He will be looking at youth football which is the future of Malawi football,” he explained.

Manda will serve as deputy to new technical director John Kaputa who has replaced Jack Chamangwana.

Lack of resources has usually affected the operations of the TD office whose previous occupants include Flames caretaker coach Eddington Ng’onamo.

On Manda’s role in the Flames in view of his more recent appointment, Ng’onamo on Tuesday described the matter as purely administrative for FAM to clarify.
