She said the electronic system will eliminate challenges faced in the past when the board was using the analogue system.

“One of the major advantages of this system is that we will no longer have cases where school authorities embezzle examination fees. We will also eradicate challenges of mismatching candidate details and their picture,” Nampota said.

She also said apart from reducing time taken to complete the registration process using analogue system, data capturing and storage will be improved and match with the increasing number of candidates.

Nampota said to make the new system successful, all schools will be required to have information technology (IT) gadgets and a reliable Internet connection.

She said Maneb IT experts will train responsible personnel at district and school level in managing the system and that Maneb will conduct sensitisation campaigns and training.

Ministry of Education director of administration James Manyetera said the ministry will ensure that schools have the needed IT gadgets and reliable Internet.

Malawi has six education divisions, which Nampota said will be covered consisting three divisions, namely Northern Education Division, Central West Education Division and South East Education Division.
