Confirming the arrest , Ntcheu Police Station deputy spokesperson Andrew Kamanga said on December 18, police in Ntcheu received a tip that Alisa was processing his passport to leave for South Africa via Biliwiri boarder post in Ntcheu.

“Detectives rushed to the boarder and found him hiding at Tsangano Market,” explained Kamanga.

Apart from attacking the two on that fateful day, Alisa is said to have also attacked Maisha’s wife in their shop and went away with undisclosed amount of cash and airtime vouchers.

Armed with a pistol Alisa shot Maisha on the chest while Yona was shot close to the stomach while he tried to catch the suspect.

The victims were referred to Queen Elizabeth Central Hospital (QECH) for further treatment.

Alisa, who was on police wanted list since the incident, hails from Mgundaphiri village in the area of Traditional Authority Mponda in Mangochi.
