Mangochi dances to Carlsberg Easter party

Lake shore town of Mangochi never slept on Easter holiday as Carlsberg set the town ablaze with a party at Zithere Pano.

There was never a dull moment right from the time the party started as Malawian music heavy weights shared the stage.

Performing on Friday night was the acoustic duo of Edgar ndi Davis, who gave an energetic performance. Besides the well orchestrated stage arrangement and the energy in the duo, the patrons were swayed by the sexual innuendos that swept the fans away. Some of the duo’s popular songs that were performed at the music party were Kumayamikira, aGides and Energy Saver.

Opening the Black Missionaries act was Moda Fumulani, who performed cover songs by Evison Matafale. The lights and smoke that was occasionally diffused from the smoke machine added spectacle to the Black Missionaries performance making it a performance worth not forgetting.

There was an act that was missing from night’s performance during the night. Anthony Makondetsa failed to take to the stage on the night as he was not feeling well to perform.

The party still continued to Saturday night where Lucius Banda and Zembani Band shared the stage with Malawi Police Orchestra who performed Mainesi and Choncho Choncho among others.

The stage heated up when the self-acclaimed ‘People’s Soldier’ hoped on stage. Soldier’s performance was spiced up by steamy dance moves from Zembani dancers. Patrons could not get enough of Lucuis’ performance as he left them asking for more as he was closing the performance at the break of dawn on Sunday morning.

Mangochi-based Mlangeni Sounds welcomed the other musicians as they performed their songs such as Chambo and Ndilulure. The band also showed Mangochi has something to offer as far as live performances are concerned as they married their music with beautiful choreography.

There were no gaps in between performances as winner of last year’s Chill DJs Battle DJ Maya proved he is quite an authority when it comes to the turn-tables as he mixed and scratched through his playlist that consisted of party music.

The party continued with performances from Alleluya Band, Paul Banda and Skeffa Chimoto.
