Mapa holds regional elections in March

Malawi Pool Association (Mapa) will hold elections in all the four regions on March 1, according to general secretary Saulos Thindwa.

The elections were postponed last September due to Malawi’s hosting of the All Africa Pool Association Championships.

“We postponed our regional elections last year to concentrate on preparations of the All Africa Pool Association Championships we hosted in October. It was wise to do so to give the championship all the attention it deserved,” said Thindwa.

He said those aspiring for positions should apply to both Mapa and regional committee general secretary. Closing date for receiving applications is February 22.

“Only active members in pool are eligible to contest and must be attached to a team that actively participates in competitions organised by Mapa. We shall not entertain late applications,” he said.

Thindwa said campaign period has been opened and will close on February 28.

The elected committee will then have powers to appoint four executive members to help them with the operations of the league.
