Masquerades woo patrons

An inaugural masquerade party attracted scores of patrons in Blantyre over the weekend, bringing them another innovation in the world of entertainment.

The patrons expressed gratitude over the ground-breaking party in the commercial city which offered them a unique environment to interact while having fun.

“It was an incredible experience for me as I did not expect things could be like this given the event was  being held for the first time. It brought confidence in me as I was interacting freely with those in masks,” said a patron who only identified herself as Mary.

During the party, which was organised by Mikozi Entertainment, a number of youths wore face masks, completely hiding their identity. They danced and partied.

“This is something unheard of as regards the county’s entertainment. We have been treated to music and other forms of entertainment before, but the masquerade party is a new concept,” said another patron.

Mikozi Entertainment director Bright Chiligo bemoaned last minute failure by some corporate partners to supply masks as promised.

“They [corporates] were to distribute free masks and run competitions for their products, but they changed tune last minute. We are happy that we supplied some masks,” he said.

The party fostered social interaction and entertainment, providing  unlimited music. n
