Relegation threatened Dwangwa United is in a crisis after almost all members of its technical panel resigned over disagreements amid an inquest into the cause of the club’s poor showing in TNM Super League first round.

Technical director Washington Malata and team manager David Mwandira confirmed in an interview yesterday having tendered their resignations.

Other technical panel members that have resigned are Ishmael Tembo, Khumbo Bakali and Pyson Msasata.

The resignations come after coach Mcdonald Mtetemera was suspended at the peak of the inquiry in which the club asked the players, through a secret suggestion box, to express what they feel are reasons behind the poor performance.

Malata said his team resigned because there was “too much finger-pointing as the club was establishing why the team is performing poorly.”

He said: “I don’t want to go into graphic details, but we felt that the executive was so disorganised in the way it is handling the issue. We thought it was better to work as a team rather than finger-pointing.”

Malata said he tendered his resignation last week, but disclosed that the executive committee rejected it.

“The executive asked us not to resign until we have held roundtable discussions focusing on the reasons we highlighted. Whatever happens the fact is that we resigned,” he said.

Mwandira said his resignation was not attached to that of the other technical panel members.

“I resigned on my own and I have got my own reasons which right now I am not in a position to disclose,” he said.

Dwangwa general secretary Samson Zimba confirmed receiving the resignations, but said he could not provide more details because the executive committee has not discussed the matter.

“I have seen some letters. We will look at the raised issues critically before we map the way forward,” he said.

Zimba however, said that the executive committee has lifted coach Mtetemera’s suspension following investigations which cleared him of misconduct.

Dwangwa, who returned to the top flight league this season, lie second from bottom with 10 points from 14 games.
