Girls’ football skills will be on display at the weekend during Matindi Academy Schools Women Football Tournament quarter-finals in the Southern and Central regions.

Southern Region Women Football Committee (SRWFC) held its quarter-final draw on Monday at the BAT Ground in Blantyre whereas the Central Region Women Football Committee (CRWFC) conducted their draw last weekend at Chipasula Secondary School in Lilongwe.

In the South, Blantyre-based Polytechnic Ladies face Balaka’s St Paul’s Secondary School at the BAT Ground on Sunday while Mangochi Secondary School host Zomba-based St Charles Secondary School the same day.

According to SRWFC general secretary Immaculate Chiwaya, defending champions Matindi Academy will host Namalimwe CDSS next Tuesday whereas Mangochi’s Mpondasi CDSS will take on Mulanje Secondary School this Sunday at a venue yet to be disclosed.

“We want that game to be played at a venue closer to their bases so that both sides can cut transportation costs,” Chiwaya said.

In the Centre, CRWFC general secretary Fagnes Kazingatchire said they will have two quarter-final games this Saturday at Chipasula Secondary School where Matindi Girls Academy meet Dzenza Secondary School before Chipasula Secondary School hosts New Version Private Secondary School.

She said the other last-eight matches, which will see Chioko Secondary School taking on Chinsapo Secondary School and Kamuzu Barracks Secondary School battling it out against Nanjati Secondary School, will be played next week at the same venue.
