Mchelenje wins Bolero cross country

Happy Mchelenje on Sunday emerged winner of the Northern Region Senior men’s cross-country competition. He outclassed over 15 fellow contestants at Bolero in Rumphi.

Mchelenje finished the 12 kilometres in 2:10 hours whereas his runner-up, Harry Kamwera, did it in 2:14 hours. Stuart Banda and Always Zingire came third and fourth respectively.

“I am so glad to have won this competition. It was tough, but I made it,” said Mchelenje in an interview.

In ladies’ senior category, Memory Ziba finished first in eight kilometres. She was followed by Chancy Gondwe and Rejoice Chirambo on second and third positions respectively.

In men’s junior, Moses Mithi was the winner followed by Baxter Msukwa and Hope Nyirenda whereas in ladies’ junior category, the three top positions went to Nalise Chirwa, Maria Mfune and Jestina Munkhondya respectively.
