The communities have also said they will periodically come together to take stock of what their duty-bearers and service providers have done for them and take them to task on stalled or non-implemented projects.

Speaking on Tuesday during the training workshop of the district’s citizen forums by the National Initiative for Civic Education (Nice) Trust, Mchinji district chairperson for Citizen Forums Margret Chimphoyo said they have formed viable platforms to kick out corruption and hold leaders accountable.

Mchinji Nice Assistant district civic education officer Memory Kakhobwe said the training was organised to orient the citizen forums on their roles and responsibilities as one way of enhancing transparency and accountability.n
