The accusation followed a report on progress of the subsidy programme that Minister of Lands, Housing and Urban Development Atupele Muluzi presented in Parliament.

MCP spokesperson and Salima North-West member of Parliament (MP) Jessie Kabwila claimed her party had information that DPP officials are involved in the programme as suppliers.

She challenged the minister to provide the list of all suppliers and beneficiaries of the programme to clear suspicions.

However, Speaker of Parliament Richard Msowoya intervened, urging MPs not to dwell on unverified rumours. He also asked the minister not to respond to the accusations.

Earlier, Muluzi said delivery of materials in some areas had delayed due to delayed funding in the 2014/15 National Budget. n
