Malawi Defence Force (MDF) has fired Moyale Barracks FC striker Khuda Muyaba but has insisted any club hunting for his signature should negotiate with the Mzuzu-based outfit.

MDF spokesperson Major Paul Chiphwanya confirmed Muyaba’s dismissal in an interview yesterday, saying the striker is no longer an employee of the entity but could not say the same about the player being a free agent.

“We have fired Muyaba as MDF soldier and not a football player for MDF team Moyale Barracks,” he said.

Dumped Moyale: Muyaba

“Therefore, if you ask me what becomes of him as Moyale Barracks player, I would say that is a matter that has to be dealt with by his club and the Football Association of Malawi [FAM]. As regards football issues, there are rules that need to be followed; a player cannot jump from one club to another without following proper procedures.”

According to Moyale general secretary Captain Isaac Banda, they will wait for guidance from MDF headquarters on how they can release the player to clubs that need his services.

“We would be open to negotiations with clubs that might need Muyaba’s services once MDF headquarters guide us on the way forward,” he said.

Muyaba and FAM transfer matching system manager Casper Jangale could not be reached for his comment yesterday.

Muyaba faced dismissal from the MDF for being absent without leave for three weeks after he abandoned Moyale Barracks and was reportedly spotted training with fellow military outfit Kamuzu Barracks.

MDF rules states that any soldier that does not report for duties for no reason for 21 days is absent without leave and faces dismissal.

Recently, Muyaba was reported to have signed a three-year deal with Silver Strikers but nothing worked after FAM said that was against the rules as the player still belonged to Moyale.
