Media Solutions has donated 200 branded T-shirts worth K520 000 to Blantyre Mayor’s Trophy.

The firm’s regional manager (South) Irvine Manase said they decided to assist after being impressed with the competition’s concept of developing football and netball talent from the grassroots.

“We felt obliged to be part of this competition that nurtures and brings sports talent into the market. Apart from that, we wanted to appreciate the support we get from Blantyre City Council in our business,” Manase said yesterday during the presentation at Civic Centre in Blantyre.

Mayor for Blantyre, Malawi’s business capital, Noel Chalamanda thanked the company for the timely gift, saying it will go a long way in motivating the youth to bring out their best performance in the competition

“We are overwhelmed with generosity of our partners. This kind of support will help the contest to be a success. We promise to use the donation for the intended purpose. We will keep our word to be transparent and accountable. I hope other companies will borrow a leaf from this good gesture,” he said.

Blantyre is the commercial capital of Malawi.

Mayor’s Trophy organising chairperson councillor Mike Mambo, who was accompanied by the council’s assistant director of leisure, culture and environment William Chimzinga during the function, said the competition has now reached the quarter-final phase. n
