Men shunning adult literacy classes
Dedza Community Development Office has said very few men are enrolling for its adult literacy classes.
Adult literacy is a programme introduced by government to give a second chance to people who dropped out of school to learn how to read and write.
But according to community development officer for the district, Maria Gama, most men are shying away from the programme for fear of being known to be dropouts.
Gama said this on Friday at a certificate presentation ceremony to mark the graduation of 33 men and 249 women that had completed 10 months of adult literacy education in Traditional Authority (T/A) Chauma in the district.
