Mimbulu on Saturday night overcame a tense atmosphere at the ABC Gym to retain the Central Zone Basketball League (Cezobal) championship title.

They beat ABC Lions 106-92 in the thrilling second game of the best of three series.

ABC‘s Vincent Ngosi had a grand game, posting 23 points, but he lacked a helping hand as Jeff Kumwenda and Mwasoni Phiri were marked out of the game.

Mimbulu coach Madano Tepeteya was on cloud nine over the victory in a post-match interview: “Teams need to realise that they will have to work extra hard to win the Cezobal title.”

Tepeteya pleaded with the Cezobal committee to stage the finals at a neutral venue, saying the home side had an edge over them in terms of supporters.
