Minister of Health Khumbize Chiponda has commended Lilongwe Water Board (LWB) for its Covid-19 response.

The minister said this on Friday when LWB donated Covid-19 medical supplies, including 150 oxygen cylinders and a water bowser to be used to supply water for three months at the Covid-19 field hospital at Bingu National Stadium in Lilongwe.

“The donation has come at the right time when we want to save more lives from the pandemic,” said Chiponda.

She also advised health workers at the field hospital to take good care of the equipment.

Said Chiponda: “There have been reports that some people are conniving with some health workers to steal oxygen cylinders from hospitals.

“That is unfortunate because the equipment are being donated to help all Malawians.”

On his part, LWB board chairperson George Kajanga said they were fulfilling their corporate social responsibility.

“We feel duty-bound to take part in the fight against the Covid-19 pandemic,” he said.
