Minister of Local Government and Rural Development Lingson Belekanyama has commended Lilongwe District Council for using Constituency Development Fund (CDF) for numerous projects in the districts.

He said this on Friday when he commissioned road and Mtudzi Bridge construction works in his Lilongwe Msinja South Constituency.

“The projects will benefit many people in the area. The road will link communities of Msinja Ward to Mitundu Rural Hospital and ease mobility challenges for learners to various schools,” he said.

On his part, Lilongwe district commissioner Lawford Palani said construction works will cover a stretch of 24 kilometres passing through the constituency.

He said: “The bridge will have culverts as the area is a wetland which needs proper workmanship. About K10 million from the CDF will go into the project.

“Th procurement process ensured that we  identify the contractor who will do a good job and local leaders will help us with monitoring so that we have quality work at the end.”

He said the council’s directors of planning and public works will be supervising the works.

Construction works will completed in 90 days.
