Misa-Malawi condoles Muluzi family

The Malawi Chapter of the Media Institute of Southern Africa (Misa-Malawi) has condoled the Muluzi and Malisita families on the demise of Esmie Muluzi-Malisita who until her death, was a member of the board of directors for Joy Media Group – the operators of Joy FM radio and Joy TV.

Misa-Malawi has also condoled the media fraternity and the Malawi nation describing her death as a big loss not only to the company and the bereaved families but also to nation as a whole.

In a press statement released Monday, Misa-Malawi Chairperson Thom Khanje said the chapter has leant with great shock the death of Muluzi- Malisita who offered her untiring support to the chapter and
the general media sector in Malawi through, among other things, her active role in matters involving the chapter and Malawi media owners.

Esmie Muluzi No more

Khanje said Misa-Malawi will remember late Muluzi-Malisita for her active role in the campaign for Access to Information (ATI) legislation and many other matters that required the support of media owners and managers.

She was first born daughter to former President Bakili Muluzi and sister to Minister of Lands, Housing and Physical Planning, Atupele Muluzi and died on Monday after being struck by lightning at Mpemba in
Blantyre.

“Misa-Malawi is shocked with the death and its heart-breaking cause which have robbed the Malawi media of one of its dedicated and committed members in such a horrific manner,” reads the statement in
part.
