She fainted while in a bathroom at Beijing International Airport.

The queen was at the airport to board a South African Airways (SAA) flight bound for Johannesburg.

She was expected to land in South Africa at 8am before boarding another flight to arrive at Chileka Airport around noon on Tuesday, this week.

Director of Artistic Agency, which runs Miss Malawi, Vitu Kamanga, who is also the manager of the queen, said the actual cause of the scare is not known, but his office has received reports that heat and humid air curve at the airport might have caused it.

Kamanga said Susan was helped by medical personnel at the airport who resuscitated her and she picked up very quickly. However, she could not catch the flight as it had already left the airport.

The manager further said he talked to her Tuesday evening and she told him that she was feeling well.

“On what happened, she said she was not sure, but she remembers checking in and that she was about to board a plane only to discover that a group of people surrounded her. She was told that she had collapsed,” said Kamanga.

He added that the Miss Malawi has no health problems related to the sudden collapse and she has been shocked by the incident.

Mtegha is therefore expected in the country on Thursday.

Miss China Wenxia Yu won the Miss World Crown.
